Introducing: Live Spreadsheets in Ask Double
Double will begin rolling out improved spreadsheet support over the next few days. With this new update, users can create, preview, and edit spreadsheets live in Ask Double—without leaving the chat. You can also view any spreadsheet attached to a task in the new editor.
- Create, preview, and edit spreadsheets directly inside Ask Double.
- Open Excel files in a side panel with familiar spreadsheet controls.
- Download finished spreadsheets when you're ready or attach them to a task.
- View and edit existing spreadsheet attachments in the new editor.

Create transactions with Ask Double
Ask Double can create transactions for you directly in the chat. You can start from an uploaded document or just describe the transaction in plain language, and Ask Double will extract the details, ask about anything that's missing, and post it once you approve. Available for QBO users on Scale only.

- Posted transactions now show a status card (and a table for batches) in Ask Double, with click-through to the transaction in QBO.
- You can now switch a transaction's type mid-conversation in Ask Double instead of restarting the flow.

Edit Transactions with AI
You can now edit a posted transaction in place or duplicate it into a new draft, then make changes manually or with AI Composer (Scale). It's a faster way to fix entries and reuse recurring ones like payroll journal entries. Available for QBO users only.

Ask Double now remembers your preferences and lets you save reusable workflows as skills. Keep them private, share them firm-wide, or link them to specific clients so your team runs the same SOPs consistently.

- Ask Double's chat input is now focused as soon as you open it, so you can start typing right away.
- Widened the account list in the Sage account mapper so that account names display fully without being cut off.
- Removed an unnecessary warning banner that was incorrectly appearing for transaction-based allocations by class.
- Updated the suspended subscription messaging to direct contacts to mailto:billing@doublehq.com for faster resolution, replacing the previous reference to Intercom.

Loan Amortization Schedules — Now in Private Beta
You can now track loans directly in Double. Enter the loan terms and Double generates a full amortization schedule with monthly journal entries for adjusting principal and interest.
- Edit any payment, and the schedule recalculates — adjust interest, principal, or total payment amounts and all future periods update automatically.
- Early payoff handled for you — Double caps principal at the remaining balance and zeroes out remaining periods so you never over-amortize.
- Reconcile with confidence — tie your loan payable account balance directly to the schedule in your monthly close.
Loan Amortizations is currently in private beta. Interested in early access? Reach out to our support team. Only available for Scale tiers (including Scale trials) connected to QBO. Read more in our help center article.
General Improvements
- Ask Double can now change the visibility of uploaded files, making it possible to share documents with clients directly through chat.
- Project header chips now show only statuses with outstanding items, and display a "Caught up" state when there's nothing left to do — making your close views easier to scan.
- The "Client options" button on the client list now sits next to the "Create Close" button, so it's visible without horizontal scrolling.
- Accruals access is now always enabled for Admin users, matching Super Admin behavior.
- Active timers are now automatically closed when a user is deleted, preventing open timers from persisting on deleted accounts.
- Added spacing between the Intercom launcher and the Ask Double send button to prevent mis-clicks.

Ask questions right from the Financials tab in the Client Portal
- Clients viewing a published report or interactive financial report can now ask the firm a question without leaving the report.
- The question flow opens on top of the report, so it’s easier to keep the report in view while reaching out.

- Accrual actions (create, edit, delete) are now recorded in the Activity Log for full audit traceability.
- Folder and subfolder structure is now preserved when downloading a parent folder as a ZIP.

Double's AI can now record multiple transactions from a single source file. Drop one document into your client uploads inbox and let our AI split it into a clean batch of bills, expenses, or journal entries ready to post.
- Post a whole batch from one file:Upload a multi-invoice PDF, csv or Excel file and process every transaction in a single pass instead of one at a time.
- Let AI fill the gaps:If a vendor or GL account doesn't exist yet, our AI will create it with your approval.
- Review, then bulk-post:Double-check the values and post the full batch in one click.
- No AI? No problem:Clients in the Core or Plus tier can still create multiple transactions from a single source file manually - just click into the file and select the "Multi-txn from file" option.

- AI model selector— Added GPT 5.5 to the model picker and removed the low-reasoning option so you default to the strongest model available.

This week's update focused on performance improvements and polishing up existing features to make your Double experience even better.
General Improvements
- Added support for posting invoices, vendor credits & credit card credits using AI, in addition to journal entries, bills, expenses, deposits, and sales receipts.
- Users can now upload additional files to be included with a receipt and/or AI transaction by clicking the "Add file(s)" button.
- Users can now edit transaction descriptions in Accruals schedules.
- Templates can now include $ thresholds and will apply to Bills & Expenses without Attachments and Transactions > $ review tasks.
- Sign-offs can now be added and modified in bulk within a task section on the close page.

AI Flux Analysis
AI Flux Analysis is now live in Double. Open your Final Review P&L or Balance Sheet, click the AI Flux Analysis button, and let the AI dive into vendor-level and transaction-level detail to surface hyper-specific insights automatically.
- Configure your materiality thresholds- define what counts as a meaningful variance so the analysis focuses on what actually matters to your client.
- Fine-tune the analysis- you can choose how high level or deep the analysis runs and can always make edits to the text before sharing.
- Copy to client footnotes or an internal comment- send findings to your client-facing reports or flag them for your team to review without having to manually dig through account detail.
