This option is already available on the closes. On the analytics tab one of the defaulted pivot tables shows each employee and a count of how many clients are assigned to them and what close status they are in. (Not started, in progress, done, ect).

Why would this exact thing not be available on the tax side??

I would love to see how many tax returns are assigned to each person and hoe many of those returns are in each status so we know where the bottlenecks are.
